Ford Motor Company

 

This was a startup manufacturing plant with 1,800 employees.  I helped develop the Labor and Overhead Budget and tracked performance on a regular basis.  I worked in cost analysis, financial analysis, general accounting and performed the first internal audit for the plant.  I was interim manager for the computer department

 

Exemplar Mfg. Company

 

I was assistant controller for this tier 1, $20M automotive company.  Using Excel spreadsheets I prepared the annual budget, prepared the monthly financial statements and, coordinated the annual audits.  I supervised 4 employees.  I had to oversee the Standard Cost System.

New Life Bakery

This was a $20M bakery in Carson City, NV.  The company was in the nutraceutical manufacturing sector.   The company was in financial problems when I arrived.  I created a budget and a five year plan to attract purchasers for the business.  We installed a manufacturing system. We converted the recipes to a bill of materials, set up work centers, etc.  We were able to locate investors, but unable to arrive at a satisfactory arrangement.  I took the company into bankruptcy.

 

RiverPlace Leasing & Great Lakes Leasing Company

 

I was controller for these two companies.  I also compiled the workpapers for the CPA firm to prepare year-end financials statements and tax returns.

Self-Employed-Public Accounting Firm

I was the owner operator of my own startup accounting firm.  The firm grew from no client to 75 clients in 4 years.  My wife and a friend were my employees at that stage.

 

 

Hands on Manager

As a controller and assistant controller for small and medium sized business, I have had to be a hands on person.  I have managed up to 4 employees in A/R, A/P, Inventory and Cost.  I have, at times, been responsible for a Unix operating system and Microsoft Server.

 

 

 

Diverse industry experience

I have experience as controller and assistant controller in the service industry, manufacturing, equipment Leasing.  In addition I have been an analyst and auditor for a boutique investment bank.

 

 

Standard Cost, Job Cost and Inventory Control

I have experience with inventory control in a warehouse environment, including periodic physical inventories and daily transaction analysis.  This experience has included bar-coding.

 

 

Data Access and Conversion

I have had experience accessing SQL and other databases using Excel and Access.  These talents have been used for database conversions and forensic audits.

 

 

Long-range planning

I have experience with long-range financial planning which has included projects prepared for investment banks.  I have spreadsheets and add-ins that allow me to prepare complete financial plans including balance sheet and cash flow implications.  These financial worksheets can be integrated with your current engineering worksheets to develop the complete implications of your plan including a sensitivity analysis.

 

GAAP and IFRS

I have prepare books of accounting for CPA firms and recently completed 13 CPE credits in the IFRS changeover.
